Cisco Network Analysis Module

NAM monitoring requires device specific configuration and is therefore disabled on new devices by default. NAM enables you to monitor Network Analysis Module data for networks that use Cisco NAM devices. Cisco NAM products give network administrators actionable visibility to optimize network resources, troubleshoot performance issues, and ensure consistent user experience. Response Time metric FlowFalcon views enable you to monitor NAM data and provides granular traffic analysis, rich application performance metrics, comprehensive voice analytics, and deep insightful packet captures.

Perform the following steps to enable the NAM plugin for each device from which you want to monitor NAM metrics.

  1. From the navigation bar, click the Devices menu and select Device Manager.

  2. Either add a device with NAM monitoring or edit a device to enable NAM monitoring.

  3. images/download/attachments/5702616/triangledown.png - Click the plugin drop-down (displays SNMP by default) and select NAM.

  4. Select the Monitor NAM Data check box.

  5. In the Username field, enter the user name SevOne NMS needs to authenticate onto the device.

  6. In the Password field, enter the password SevOne NMS needs to authenticate onto the device.

  7. In the Data Source field, enter the data source. For most NAM devices this is ALL SPAN.

  8. Click the Flow Destination drop-down and select the peer to which the device is to send flow data.

  9. If indicated, in the Client Address field, enter the IP address of a client NAM that is distinct from the NAM itself. This is the IP address to use for authentication and access control to the NAM device. This field is usually left blank.

  10. On the Cluster Manager Cluster Settings tab select the Advanced FlowFalcon Views check box to make Medianet and Response Time metric FlowFalcon views available for FlowFalcon reports, the FlowFalcon View Editor, and the Object Mapping page.
