Portshaker Plugin

This documentation applies to NMS version 5.4. An online version of the software can be found here.

The Portshaker plugin is automatically enabled when you add a new device to SevOne NMS to enable you to check whether the device is listening on the TCP ports you specify on the device and to enable you to graph the response time. The Port Availability indicator and the Port Response Time indicator on the Instant Graphs page enable you to view port availability and port response time statistics.

Perform the following steps to enable the Portshaker plugin for each device from which you want to poll Portshaker metrics.

  1. From the navigation bar, click the Devices menu and select Device Manager.

  2. Either add a device with the Portshaker plugin or edit a device to enable the Portshaker plugin.

  3. images/download/attachments/5702620/triangledown.png - Click the plugin drop-down (displays SNMP by default) and select Portshaker.

  4. Select the Monitor Portshaker Data check box.

  5. On the New Device page, click Save as New to display the Edit Device page to perform the next steps.

  6. On the Edit Device page click Edit Portshaker Information to display the Portshaker Objects for <device> pop-up.

  7. On the Portshaker Objects for <device> pop-up, click Create New Object to display fields to enable you to specify the Portshaker objects (TCP ports) on the device to poll.

  8. In the Port field, enter the port number on the device for SevOne NMS to use to poll Portshaker data (80, 161, etc.).

  9. Select the Enabled check box to enable polling of the object. This should be selected.

  10. In the Name field, enter a unique name for the object.

  11. In the Description field, enter the description of the object to display.

  12. Click Save This Object.

  13. Repeat these steps to add additional objects.
