This documentation applies to NMS version 5.4. An online version of the software can be found here.
The Process plugin is automatically enabled when you add a new device to SevOne NMS to enable you to collect performance and availability information about individual processes running on a device. The Process plugin works in conjunction with the SNMP plugin via the HOST-RESOURCES MIB. This MIB stores information about all currently running processes, including their CPU time and memory usage. You must confirm that the SNMP plugin is enabled for a device when you enable the Process plugin. The Object Types page enables you to manage the Process object types to poll.
Devices for which you enable the Process plugin can display the following process data on the Device Summary.
Process Name - Displays the process name.
Description - Displays the process description.
Availability - Displays the process availability.
Instances - Displays the number of instances running.
Memory - Displays the amount of memory the process uses.
CPU - Displays the percentage of the CPU the process uses.
Perform the following steps to enable the Process plugin for each device from which you want to poll Process metrics.
From the navigation bar, click the Devices menu and select Device Manager.
Either add a device with the Process plugin or edit a device to enable the Process plugin.
Click and select Add New Device to display the New Device page.
Click to display the Edit Device page.
In the plugin section, confirm that the SNMP Capable check box is selected.
- Click the plugin drop-down (displays SNMP by default) and select Process.
Select the Monitor Process check box.
On the New Device page, click Save as New to display the Edit Device page to perform the next steps.
On the Edit Device page click Edit Monitoring Information to display the Select Which Processes to Monitor on <device> pop-up.
On the Select Which Processes to Monitor on <device> pop-up, the processes you define to be default processes on the Object Types page appear enabled and are polled by default. Enable the processes to poll and disable the processes to not poll on the device.
